Should You Live with Back Pain?

You’ve tried everything to ease your back pain but nothing works? Do you think that your pain is the new normal? Do you feel discouraged? Should you live with back pain? Don’t look any further; Pilates may be part of a long-term solution.

I lived with back pain for a long time and I realized that if I didn’t do anything more permanent I would spend my life reliving the same pain over and over. I remember that after my first child was born, I locked my lower back to the point that I couldn’t stand up straight, so I was on my hands and knees dragging myself to attend to my child. The pain was excruciating. When I discovered Pilates, I was very pessimistic but I was so desperate that I had nothing to lose! It took 6 month of intense rehabilitation for my lower back pain to ease. I still get low back pain but it doesn’t last as long and it is not as painful.

The problem is that nowadays we spend more time sitting than standing or being active. We spend long hours at a desk, in a car or at home sitting on a couch. Our core muscle, back muscles and hip flexors don’t get the right amount of conditioning. In order to avoid back pain we need core strength to support the spine and flexibility in the hips in order to have the proper range of motion in our pelvis. The structure of the pelvis is complex. There are so many components that we need to take into consideration. There is no quick fix.

The good news is that you don’t have to live in pain anymore. We can help you!

By studying your posture and you locomotion, we can find the origin of your back pain. We then create a program that will help strengthen your hips and your core. Our goal is to slowly bring more support to you back.

It takes patience and dedication but you will get positive results.
